Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented (Senior) Accountant to join our New York finance team. This role is critical in bridging the gap between monthly management reporting, regulatory reporting, corporate lending & credit, and accounting policy. The ideal candidate will have experience within a foreign banking organization (FBO) or a U.S. bank, including an understanding of the unique reporting requirements and operational structures involved in banking.
Key Responsibilities:
• Home Office & Management Reporting: Facilitate financial reporting to our international corporate parent and certain affiliates. This includes reconciling local GAAP to parent-company IFRS standards and providing insightful variance analysis on monthly financial performance.
• Regulatory Reporting: Primary back-up for the preparation and submission of regulatory filings for an FBO and its international affiliates. Preparing reports for the Federal Reserve Board and NYS Department of Financial Services examinations, ensuring all inquiries and data requests are handled with accuracy. Assisting with FRB Reporting Central and Structure Central; Coordinate with the parent ICT team on Reg-Reporter maintenance, and release updates; Respond to inquiries from the regulators.
• Credit & CECL Analysis: Review and reconcile credit losses under the Current Expected Credit Losses (CECL) framework. Oversee the reporting of loan loss reserves and workouts; CECL calculation derived from stage 1 and 2 reserve calculation under IFRS.
• First-Line Account Management: Take ownership of first-line accounting functions, including the review of general ledger activities, month-end close processes, and the maintenance of internal controls over financial reporting.
• Accounting Policy & Compliance: Implement new accounting pronouncements. Ensure that all internal financial practices remain compliant with US GAAP and IFRS.
• Policies and Procedures: Preparing and maintaining Finance Department policies and procedures.
• Coordination with regulatory reporting consultants.
Candidate Profile:
• Minimum of five years of progressive accounting experience, specifically within the banking or financial services sector.
• Minimum 4-year accredited college degree in Accounting/Finance or equivalent.
• Direct experience with regulatory reporting frameworks or willingness to learn.
• Practical knowledge of banking, corporate lending, and credit accounting.
• Ability to interact and communicate with colleagues at various levels.
• Strong background in preparing and maintaining written accounting policy and procedures.
• Software Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, with expert-level skills in Excel (e.g., Power Query, Pivot Tables, V-lookups, and macro-level data manipulation).
